I'm not sure which stats you found. I have read through this whole thread more than once but don't recall you saying what you found.
I often hear people say if the USA had tighter gun laws we would have less gun crime but I don't believe that myself. Here are some links about England's crime despite their strict gun laws. UN reports also shows that England and Wales are the second-worst places in the world for assaults and 18% of Brits claimed they knew how to get hold of an illegal firearm
In the USAGuns were involved in about 12% of all violent crime, and handguns in about 10%. The majority of the gun crimes were assaults, mostly threats without any injury or any element of theft or rape.
Just tossing these statistics out there. Is what you found similar?
