I used to binge drink in college (thirty years ago) and at weddings. In 2006 a psychiatrist told me I was an alcoholic and refused to prescribe me xanax even though I had been taking xanax for about seven years at that time and I have only drank alcohol once in the past fifteen years.

I would ask your physician what is going on.
