I agree with salukigirl. If you've reached a point where you feel you're being someone you're not and always trying to make him happy - I think this is a sign to part ways. I think it's a little insensitive to say you won't celebrate Valentine's day because of money - people can have a nice dinner at home and just be together. If he seems to want to let go, I think you should just let him go. Go out with your girlfriends if he doesn't want to recognize Valentines Day.
