I can't even count the amount of times I've needed staples or stitches, probably hundreds. And 5 surgeries to repair muscle and tendons. I've had alot of bad experiences but I've also had some very positive experiences. I've done some talks about SI to the staff at the A and E about SI and how people want to be treated. I like when the junior doctors are honest with me and tell me they don't understand completely, but they are willing to learn a bit more, I allow them to ask questions and hopefully they can learn how to treat people who SI better. Some doctors/nurses don't give a s*** and TBH I feel sorry for them, they have no idea.
Its obvious that staff need to be educated. For the last 5/6 years I've been giving talks across the UK to professionals who work with people like myself who SI. Even if it has helped one person, something positive has to come out of my experience.
