I think it is sad, sad, SAD how we view sexuality and beauty in this country. Plastic surgery, a BLESSING for people who have experienced physical trauma, has become a NIGHTMARE for those of us FIGHTING to teach our daughters that true beauty lies within.
I'm sure you've all seen the stories about Heidi Montag and her 10 surgeries in 10 hours. On top of the surgeries she had already had done previously. She said she wanted size "H" boobs for "Heidi", because her triple D's just weren't large enough. WTF. Is this why I feel so insecure about my body postpartum, and for the most part always have, because my normal HUMAN boobs will never look like plastic balloons.
It is frustrating, infuriating and heartbreaking to see how many women have so little self esteem that they are willing to completely change the way they were born, as a result of our twisted understanding of what it means to be beautiful.
Another example is the contestant Gia from this season of the Bachelor. My husband said to me the other night, "you know, she definitely had work done", and I thought, hmmm... I guess. And then a few days later old photos started coming out and she had in fact had the obvious breast enhancement, but also a nose job, lip injections and something else, I can't remember.
It's essentially self mutilation!!
Sort of a tangent, but ultimately that's where those toddlers are headed. =(
