I too think all history is relevant to the present. It's a shame the University is being so short sighted. The lack of knowledge about the Ancient World is alarming! Many think people in the Ancient World were Neanderthals, rather than highly sophisticated, knowlegable people who shared their wisdom with us via the Crusades because of the Arab world and the Christian monks; and through multiple secular and religious writings. Although students may be unaware of the importance of this knowledge, the University is not. They are making a very bad choice, in my opinion.
