I used to be afraid of balloons as well because of the evil clown movie, IT. I saw it when I was very young, and that night there were actually balloons in my room which sealed the deal on my phobia. For most of my life I was especially afraid of floating balloons not tied to something, and even more specifically at night. However, I can't even remember the last time that I had an issue with them, because I can't even remember the last time I've seen one. I don't know if they would still affect me the same way or not. But I know how I still feel about clowns. The last time I saw one of those IRL I was on a cruise ship several years back. I was walking down a corridor and one came out of a doorway at the end of the hall in front of me. All I remember is turning around and running down the hall screaming.
Do you know where your phobia stems from?
