Gawd..forgot this one....
This has it's sweetness to it (not intended to be a negative inclusion):
Daughter's dad and I had our issues (he was quite verbally abusive to only me..downgraded me regularly).
One time in particular, shortly after him bellowing his usual degradings of how "ugly & old" he thinks I was, I'm attempting my best to recover in solitude so daughter don't have to see mommy cry, (I think she was around 6). She enters into the room I was in, creeping slowly toward me, bending over so to try to see my face. I notice she has a handful of tissues, so I did my best to quickly wipe away my tears without her noticing. She says to me in the sweetest, most consoling tone possible...."Momma...You are the most prettiest oldest lady I know".
What a treasure. I couldn't help but to smile and love her even more.
