Money is a large stressor for me. Unfortunately, with the episodes my husband has had, I must deal with the money. I know exactly what you mean about not having enough money. Someday, all I can think about is that old joke of putting all the bills on a lazy susan, spinning it, and whichever stays on gets paid that month. This is the main aspect of "adulthood" that I just hate.
That being said, someone needs to call the hospital and get them to bill the correct people. I hate those kinds of phone calls, so usually my husband will make them for me (lucky me). Our local hospital (5 miles from our home) repeated billed our former insurance. Finally, my husband had to call and tell them to take that provider off and that we were handling ourselves, so to speak. They were really helpful about it.
If hospital bills are worrying you, do you know if you qualify for any kind of patient assitance program? Luckily we do and it has saved us thousands of dollars in medical bills. Getting the bills and seeing the money we owed was hard for me, but eventually everything fell into place. Good luck and let me know if you need anything, even just to talk.
