Bashfull - each state has a different definition of even what a lunch period is let alone what one is entitled to etc. In Wisconsin, as long as they pay you for that period, they can pretty much do whatever they want. The only exception to that rule in the state of WI is if you are under the age of 18.

So before you decide to take the offensive, know what your rights are. Most state require employee rights to be posted. If there is a specific break area or right outside the office there should be a big white poster stating your rights, in facts it's probably called "Your rights and responsibilities".
