I have been to Australia to see my dying alcoholic mother. I am shocked beyond belief at what she looked like. She is still continuing to smoke and drink heavily, despite her limited tiime left. I expected nothing from her, and I was right. I feel very sad that her final days will be lonely. Her house is filthy and her alcoholic partner is awful. It is a tragic way for her life to end. I expect that she only has weeks, so am bracing myself for the feelings that this will bring. If only it were different! I feel very sad.
