Tiptoeing in to throw my 2 cents worth into the fountain.

First, for clarity, this is a
"Dissociative Disorder" forum.
DID is only one of the disorders.

No, you can't cause DID by using drugs.
And the voices those with DID hear are from within, schizophrenics hear non-existent voices from outside their bodies (also.)

I'm no medical doctor but from what I do know, and think, is this:
dissociative hallucinogens have a short half-life. Their effects are brief, making the person use and reuse for the same sensation.

We are all dissociative in one form or fashion!
Singletons, multiples, and those who aren't sure.
As human beings we have the capability to dissociate. A great part of the population can do so "at will." Some call it meditation, some prayer, some have other names for it.

Now, if someone uses this type of drug, they may become addicted to how it makes them feel, and perhaps strengthen their own understanding and ability to dissociate, but imo it isn't the drug doing that, but the person seeking the same sensation. (But isn't that the core for most drug seeking behavior?)

Like I said, just my 2 cents worth.
