Byzantine has a good point. I have had some problems with my boyfriends cats - they chew on chords in order to wake you up, scratch on things they shouldnt - anything to get you out of bed. Of course I snap all the time.
Current solution: they can't get into the bedroom (we used to live in a studio apartment)... we also have crates and that used to help some as well.

You need sleep, and the dog needs to be ok too.
Can you talk to your room mate about possible solutions? It's important you talk about it sooner rather than later - the longer you wait the more angry you will get.
