I'm 47, had my routine yearly done recently and also went in for my first mammogram. No sonogram done or spoken of, but when I google on -menopause, sonogram- lots of references pop up describing it as a normal routine for our age.
Looks like sonograms are done to check uterine lining. My guess is that you are getting a thorough check up, which is good.
Just found this:
- Vaginal sonogram (also called a pelvic ultrasound): measures the thickness of your uterine lining, shows if you have uterine or ovarian cysts, endometrial hyperplasia, fibroid tumors, uterine or ovarian cancer, sometimes even endometriosis.
I'm in perimenopause, fun fun!
