150 mg of Effexor didn't do much for me except get me out of the really deep fog of depression. It wasn't until I got to 225 mg that I began to really feel better. It's been awile now since I started on it so I don't remember exactly but I seem to remember noticing an improvement in about 3 weeks. 225 mg is considered the therapeutic dose for most people. It's at 225 mg that the effect on norephinephrine kicks in to augment the SSRI properties, so 225 seems to be an optimal dose for a lot of people. Personally I'm on 375 mg a day which freaks out my pharmacist but works for me.
