You are so right. Sometimes the hassles on top of the trauma you are already experiencing can really put you in overload. I have a few horror stories of my own that were so stressful I ran home and hide back under the covers. It is frustrating for sure. I am sorry you got a run around after going to all that trouble to ask for help. So not fair.
Some good advise has already been offered but I will just reinforce the value of confirming any appointment before you leave the house and going armed with things that will help you cope. Whenever I have to go for an appointment I take a book with me that I mostly pretend to read since I am usually too stressed to absorb any of it. Mostly I am just giving myself positive self talk while pretending to be reading. I also carry a rock in my pocket that I can rub between my fingers to help me stay grounded. And I carry a small pad of paper and a pencil in my bag or pocket so that I can doodle or write poetry or other stuff just to give me something to focus on besides the anxiety of waiting or a place to vent silently if something frustrating happens.
