Yesterday (Sept. 9) in New Orleans ALONE, the Humane Society of the United States rescued 559 dogs, 42 cats and 47 other animals. Other rescue organizations are still at work in New Orleans and Mississippi too, now having been given permission legally (as if I would have needed permission?!) to use crow bars to get into homes where animals are known to be abandoned.
