Glad you're trying something new for the acne and still considering telling your mom.
Just a few random things for acne that I've picked up over the years (I used to have icky acne, but no longer

) I know your dermatologist probably has alot of advice but I'm just adding this incase something helps.
First off, even though it seems gross now it might start going away as you get older and hormones start to balance out, but for now....
I found that changing the pillow case I sleeped on more often helped a lot. If you think about it, sleeping on it every night is putting the oils from you face all over it and changing it makes your face cleaner.
I'm assuming your dermatologist gave you some face cleansers and lotions - I know mine told me to make sure to keep myself moisturized (she suggested oil of olay for sensitive skin) because if you are dried out your skin produces more oil to deal with it, which causes problems.
also as far as birth control goes - do be aware that in regards to depression birth control is known as a "helper" but also can cause some depression, depending on the person! So please keep track of your mood and make sure all is well :P
anyways, I hope it all works out for you, keep us posted
