Being able to hide it or excuse it is a pretty big factor for me too. My other one is accessibility. The perfect place for me is the back of the neck. Hair covers it up, but it's easy to reach there when I want to also. I don't use a blade there, but just fingernails. It's usually impulsive and without thinking about it, and was an improvement over scratching my face and arms.
