I don't know whose idea "fake it till you make it" was, but I never liked that advice. I much prefer the concept of being real.
Depression is not a character flaw; it's an illness. Therefore, there should be no shame in admitting to it (although too often there is.) I'm glad you already have a therapist and medication. That is precisely what an illness needs; proper treatment. I would no more consider "faking" my way through my depression, than I would consider "faking" my way through my diabetes. Both of those are medical conditions and need medical management, not to be brushed aside.
Take care of yourself. In fact, put yourself first. You wouldn't be of any use to someone else, whether they're depressed or not, unless you've got your own emotional fuel tank full.
