I think I've had the same problem.
I've always had a hard time just "brushing things off" when I've been verbally hurt by other people.
I'm still having problems controlling it a little, but not as worse as before.
The most hardest thing I could ever control, is calming myself down. I sometimes like
to close my eyes, and say to myself, "If don't have anything nice to say, I will not say anything at all." Closing my eyes, helps me relax.
Silly, I know. But I feel much better afterwards (I'm sorry, I wish I was much more help. x])
