Pain management can be a complicated issue, and it can change with time. I'm sure you know. The meds you are currently taking might not be working any more, and just switching to something different, going off these, might work for you. Trying different anti-inflamatories are same way for some.

I'd investigate a pain management psychologist and work that way to help decrease pain. It's well documented that mismanagement of stress, or becoming overwhelmed by stress causes increased pain in the body. The body is so intertwined with the mind, we can't help it. A routine --a strong regimen-- of self care including meditation and breathing and relaxation skills might be mandatory for you at this point, to get an even better handle on the pain.
