Hopefully through helping others you have learnt some techniques on how to help YOURSELF as well, I hope you can impliment them and begin to feel better. It's probably right that you have to ride this out, depression doesn't have to last forever, there are things we can do that can improve it and eventually come out of it.
I hope you keep seeing your counselor and that it helps. Maybe you need some 'you time', not always focussing on other people's problems but look at yours. You're worth it too x
