I agree with all of the above advice, also wonder about social services? Food stamps, help with electric and heating, , can your mom file papers as a displaced homemaker at a counselling center and get free counselling for you all?

Have you all reached out to a Domestic Abuse Hotline--they have many sources of help. I found one that even offerred an underground (won't say more on that).

The best help I ever got-was not through the courts-I had no money-He had a private attorney in all courts--and repeatedly broke into the house was in getting a mean dog. Orders of Protection did not deter him, Violations of the Orders and spending a night in jail did not deter him, but the dog did.
I got the dog when she was 1 year old, and little did I know, she had been abused and bred to be a fighter dog. One night, I lay in bed with her spooning and scratching her belly, I drifted off to sleep-and she rolled her head around her eyes back in her head, and got me by the juggular-I froze. She let go.

She never slept with me again, and you could not put your hand above her head--
but no one ever broke into that house or tried to bother me again.

I kept that dog throughout my ten year long divorce.
Better than any Order of Protection. (((HUGS))) to you and yours-theo
