We PTSD'ers make our bodies sick--we do it with the increase of hormonal levels of adrenaline and fight or flight hormones either coming and going at times-or constantly going on in our bodies. When we do this it causes many physical reactions that may, over the years become chronic-that is why I said it sounds "somatic"--The Sympathetic part of the Nervous System senses stress from the brain and immediately sends out messages to the body to prepare to "Fight" or Flight", sugars are released into the blood stream that may be used to fight--these are all normal reactions of the nervous system to stress--everytime we"Trigger" our Physical body does this--the wear and tear on our bodies is amazing.
Just studying the Human Nervous System is amazing. I loved that part of Anatomy and Physiology the best.
Hormones interplay with reflexes, synaptic junctions, neuropeptides, the immune system comes into play, our whole physical being is run homeostatically by the Nervous System---So a Somatic reaction to stress is very common for us, also, it can become a very dangerous part of our illness.
I truly believe we can harm our bodies very seriously, even unto death with just the power of our minds. JMO Theo
