Yeah - I remember the talk. When I was in my last year of highschool, my Dad took me out for dinner and explained that once I was done highschool, I was out of the house & into my own place. He said that as long as I was in university he'd help out financially, which he did generously and to the best of his ability. But as soon as I was out of school, it was understood that I'd get a job, any job, and start supporting myself. So I did. It was the middle of a recession when I graduated, but I knew I didn't have any other option so I found a really crappy contract job and stuck with it until I found something better.
