I have been having a recurring dream for years, and I am wondering if someone can figure out what it means...

In the dream I am standing on a dark residential street. I am facing a man who I assume is a complete stranger to me (I cannot see his face). The man has a rather large handgun pointed at me and neither of us is saying anything. I stand there for awhile waiting for him to pull the trigger and when he fails to do so, I turn around to walk away. As I do, I hear the sound of the gun being cocked and then fired. I feel the bullet hit the back of my head and explode through my brain. And that's it.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
