Each time I was considering seeing a psychiatrist I was wondering if bringing the tests would be useful, too.
In the end I didn't but that was more due to the fact I had a crash and was really messed up, said hello to a hospital, prior to finally seeing a pdoc.
farmergirl and grizmom are right. Don't be scared, you won't get 'locked up' based on those tests. the pdoc will want to go through your symptoms, if they thinks you might be in danger, that's the only time they'll bring up going to hospital. When I went to ER, I was there for half a day but didn't get admitted because I didn't admit to my self harming/sui thoughts (naughty me).
So that said, don't be afraid to tell the pdoc everything. They can't diagnose and treat you for the best possible recovery without the truth. If you're worried about telling the pdoc a certain thing because you're worried about hospitalisation, think of it this way. The sooner they know it's a problem, they can manage it so you're probably not likely to end up where you rather not be. Don't tell the pdoc, they can't help you as well as they could and you're putting yourself at risk of having to recover in a hospital (which isn't a 'bad' thing - sometimes, **** happens and you need it to get well again).
