If I'm even remotely close to my assumptions...lol...I believe "WORD" is a statement of agreement. So, that persons was telling you that he/she was in agreement to what you were saying.
What I find interestingly amusing is when I hear some of the youth actually use the text slang in verbal conversation.
There they are, face to face, interacting with each other....and someone says...."lol", "lmao", "omg" or (this is the best one), "i'm afk"......
I can't help but to find that funny.
Not really sure why I find humor in that. Maybe it's because I understand it's the age and chances are it will pass...just as all cycles of "coolness" does.
