Yeah, but what happened after makes me think I may have been enduring an episode of psychotic depression. I had other dreams after which were just dreams though.
It sounds like you were in a state of sleep paralysis. That can be really scary the first few times (my first experience was when I was just a kid). However, knowing what it is can help a lot. It takes a moment before you can move again, but movement will always return. Also, it's not abnormal to see things in this state. That happens to normal people, so I wouldn't consider it a symptom of psychosis if it happens.
My trick to getting out of it is to focus on my breathing. You'll always still be breathing, since it's automatic. But you can take control over it if you like. So I'd start controlling my breathing, then move to other things. My boyfriend starts with a finger. After you control one thing, the rest is cake.
