I notice this a lot in my area, too.
I always stop for pedestrians. I'm a pretty courteous driver..I stop to let that one single car which is waiting to ease into the long line of stopped traffic at the lights, which seems to really piss off those in traffic behind me, (I just smile).

The pace here has become so fast that everyone is in a huge hurry to get to their destination that they've lost sight of common courtesy.
Even in the check out lines in grocery stores. Anytime someone is behind me who has less to purchase than I do, (especially if they're holding only a few items), I always allow them to go before me...I figure, what goes around, comes around...which does happen, on a rare occasion...lol.

What really bothers me is how no one pulls over for ambulances anymore.
The behavior of the general population here is so rude and self-centered anymore that one don't dare piss another off...for fear they'd just pull out their pistol and shoot you......

The area where my house is....I have to wait to allow cars pass as they will not wait...they zip past so fast that, I really have to pay close attention to traffic, (even though its a residential area).....Grrr.
