The rudeness of people never ceases to amaze me.
I have quite the opposite problem. At the west end of my street two blocks down is the church that the majority of the community belongs to. Across the street from the church is the parking lot for the church that spans an entire block. People cross from the parking lot to the church wherever and whenever they wish. This is a HUGE safety issue, particularly in the winter when the roads are icy and one cannot stop on a dime. The Fire Department and Ambulance (located at the north end of the street) have both complained to the Village and to the Church itself.
The Village painted cross walks in stating that there was “nothing else they could do”. Umm, the police department is right next to the Church compound, how about start handing out Jay walking tickets and tow illegally parked cars. Once the parking lot is filled they park wherever they want, blocking all 16 corners so attempting to turn from a side street to the main street is impossible during services. The members of this church are so bold as to have actually blocked the police garage.
There was a funeral for a very prominent person in our community that happened to be a member of this church. The turn out was so great that people actually ended up parking in my yard. I didn’t like it, but I tolerated it. I absolutely drew the line when someone parked at the end of my driveway blocking me in, and my husband out. I ran outside in my bathrobe (I was getting ready for work) and said “excuse me, you cannot park here, I have to get out.”
So as a driver I would like to thank you for using a crosswalk and waiting for traffic. If you lived here, you could just walk out whenever you wanted. Sorry for the book, but I could go on and on. There are just no manners anymore.
