i do both planned and impulsive SI. when i have something planned, then it pretty much will happen. even if that doesn't happen when it's first planned, someday later it will happen. i'm not sure why those are so impossible for me to fight. impulsive things happen every so often too, of course. hard to fight in their own way.

i'm intrigued that so many people say they're "always sober" when they SI. i mean... yea... just interested. i am sober most of the time when i do it. but my partner and i have had conversations about how substances can change the experience. we both like it more when we're drinking, and find it to be a more dangerous situation - i'm glad we have come to be aware of that about our drinking and SI. i also like that we can be supportive to each other. however, we have found that we like SI less when smoking weed. so, interestingly enough, when fighting a really difficult urge, smoking has helped us stay safer (i'm all about harm reduction, so i think that's fascinating).
