I was just told today and now I am confused. I did not realize that this was something i had done..., but mine did not stem from a single incident and I was put in hospital for a month not just emerg. room

is there someone i can talk to about this -I wont see T till next week.
Thank you in advance
heres a website that explains it pretty good:

http://www.webmd.com/mental-health/dissociative-amnesia

the way it is explained in our psych classes is that when a person is under trauma or extreme stress they dissociate to the point where they block out all memory of that stressful or traumatic event. the memory is not gone forever just blocked out until you are able to remember the event without being so stressed and traumatized.

An example of it is when a person is raped they block out/repress the memory of that rape and anything that led up to and after that rape for years. then years later something will remind them or trigger that memory to become unblocked and they rise to the surface. then the full memory, the events that led up to it and the events after it come flooding back.
Thanks for this!
