One of the reasons the initial stages of antidepressant therapy need close following is the possibility the drugs really will help the patient feel and function better, and thus enable him or her to act on urges to self-harm, urges the more deeply depressed individual might not have had the energy to actualize.
Yes, this is something you should take up with your doctors. Relieving the depression may allow anxieties to surface. Please take care.
