If he loves you, he respects you. That doesn't mean he is "good" to you, buys you presents or remembers your birthday :-) but he listens sincerely and treats you as a good friend and lets you know what he's feeling about you and hopes you will join him in his own life and the plans he has for it and is interested in learning what you are planning to do with yours.
