Did they draw the blood from your antecubital (inner elbow area) or from your inner wrist? They would draw from the wrist to check your arterial blood gases and it does hurt when they are sticking the wrist but I never had a patient complain of the pain lasting for more than a few minutes after the blood was drawn. When blood is drawn from the wrist it is drawn from an artery and the inner elbow area is from a vein. Is the swelling and bruising getting worse or the same? Do you take aspirin or Motrin or naprosyn?
