I hate it... and it's like stupid bad news keeps piling up. And I just keep having to forget about it. It makes me feel even crappier though...

BatsAndButterflies,

These thoughts and emotions are piling up, waiting for you to deal with them. Just forgetting about it isn't working ~ as it makes you feel even worse.

While the news may seem trivial or stupid to you on some level, talking about these issues should be some relief. You may want to write a list of all the things flashing into your head. If those thoughts continue to come up after you've written a brief list, define the emotions that the thoughts bring up.

For example, pretend: 1.) My brother's dog, Oscar, died. ~ I wasn't close at all to Oscar, but it brings up deep sadness and hopelessness....(feeling goes on)... Oscar's death reminds me of how fragile life is at times. I wonder why evil things live on, yet innocent and loving things suffer. Why? Life is so unfair!

Thoughts like these commonly bring on other thoughts and emotions, like anger, anxiety, guilt, and self-hate.

Hope that this made some sense to you. A list could really help you understand exactly what's bothering you and begin to understand why these thoughts and feelings won't go away. Talking about those things with an impartial 3rd party, like a therapist, can help you work though them.

Very best wishes to you!
