Several weeks ago we saw colored ribbons every twenty yards or so on our country road and I was thinking, oh good, they are going to put in a sewer. Then they put the yellow things out this week and we had not a clue. Today a cute guy knocked on my door and said could he stand in my yard and said they were looking for oil and gas. Heck yeah, I will be Granny Clampett. I'll sell you my 'black gold' and move to a nice house with a cement pond.
Thirty minutes later the freaking house is shaking and model horses are rocking in the curio and I'm thinking dang what are they doing? I walked outside and four huge trucks are slowly going down the road. My son said he saw something going up and down on the trucks but I didn't see it because I was looking at the cute guy. I told him I have a couple of pine trees just waiting to fall on my barn (pines have very shallow root system, hate 'em). He said that's stuff he is looking for, any effect they cause.
The really weird thing is he said they they started measuring in PA and they were stopping down there where those three houses are. *he pointed to my neighbors about 200 yards south from my house* That's where my farm ends. How odd that they start in PA and come all the way to southern WV and the end point is the southern line of my farm.
I thought my horse might be nervous because of the ground vibration and the NOISE but he couldn't have cared less. He had oats for breakfast this morning and his only concern was mowing the fescue in the field. He's a good steady horse.
I sure as heck don't understand the physics of what they were doing. Our tectonic plates are really stable here in eastern US; I know we have natural gas and coal aplenty but not sure about oil. I let a guy put a gas well on my farm about three years ago so it would be really cool if I am sitting on the motherload. I don't want to clean my house anyway so I'll just buy a new one.
