I so know how that feels. It is not a good feeling. I actually had to have a MRI and was told that I had menier's disease, which i don't have.
Feeling like you are going deaf in one year is common with tinnitis. I felt that way all the time. Mine got worse as well when I was in bed for a month with pneumonia then a lung infection and then a couple months later got brochitis so my ears never had time to heal.
I was even getting pain in the ear that I felt I was going deaf in. I too had the hearing tests and say the ENT and everything was normal.
Have you tried ear plugs when traveling? I have heard that words some...but not sure.
Please know that I know how this feels. It does get better, it takes time, but it does.
