WW,

Thank you for your thoughts.....like usual.....never got a call back from any of my Dr's so put a after hours call in to the pain specialist. They told me to just go back to the ER with the information of what I am on & they will determine the level of pain med that is safe.

Sleeps,

Thank you for your prayers & hugs. Yes, horses do trip & stumble at times they are definitely NOT sure footed as mules......He tripped over a small mound of soft dirt from what the foot prints showed. Got his left hoof caught in the dirt for the initial stumble....then on recovery hit the front leg with his back leg gashing his front leg....think the pain from the gash must have taken him down to his front knees....thus a quick throw over the left side of his neck. He is 26 years old with quite a bit of arthritis.....& he was warmed up, but guess he doesn't really pick up his feet at well as a younger horse does. He also has a disadvantage in that he is partially blind in his left eye also....& is mostly trusting that I will not take him anywhere he will get hurt.....let him down on that account....poor baby....hoping he will trust me in the future after this. He has even stumbled in the dressage arena at times but never to this extent. We were taking him out to working on his trailing so I can use him for ponying Izzy & getting her used to the outside of the ranch.

I really think they thought it would go away quicker than it has...they didn't realize how hard I hit the ground & not remembering anything, I probably got a kick in the head also by the looks of my helmet.....I really don't understand the thinking of the doctors but the nurse practitioner last night said that they usually don't do the cat scan initially because all the dizziness, nausea, & headache usually go away within a couple of hours so wait to do anything if it doesn't go away within 24 hours.

Fuzzy,

Thanks so much for your gentle bearhugs for both my horse & me.....really appreciate that.

DE,

Thank you for your good wishes of love & healing for me & my horses....that is so kind of you.

SpazKatt,

Yes, the first day I got home after all the Dr were closed....but called after hours.....told to go to the ER if it was bad. First night at ER, they seemed to blow off the head issues & just xrayed the neck which is sprained even with having a neck fusion about 5 years ago. I pretty much stayed in bed Friday except for having to go care for my horses. I was still feeling really sick & got no calls back from my Dr's so when I called after hours, they said to go back to ER & have them check out the head....only thought they gave me for not looking into it the first time was that the problems usually go away within a few hours....so last night they did more tests.

Yes, I did go back to the ER last night.....was tired of feeling dizzy & sick & blurry vision.....let alone all the aching body (which I knew was normal). I finally got into see someone after 5 hours of waiting.....they unwillingly gave me a demoral shot since I am allergic to morphine & its derivitives like delodid. They also decided to do a cat scan which luckily turned out negative. They said that the dizziness can come from the fluid in your inner ear is set into sloshing when the head is hit & that is causing the dizziness....so they gave me a perscription for Antivert. I do have some Robaxin already at home from a oops I had with my horse earlier this year when I passed out in the pen with my filly...& they kinda walked over me. Today I feel like I was hit by a smaller truck than yeaterday so this is very good. The demoral gave me some relief & hopefully it will just start fading away.

One of the nurses at the ER had just been bucked off her horse a month ago & fractured her ribs.....so we were exchanging stories about our horses......a good distraction.

Thank you all for your caring, loving thoughts for me & my horses. It just seems to take more time now that I am older to get over these bumps....at least my hip wasn't fractured like the last time I was thrown....I am getting too old for this kind of stuff.

Debbie
