Since I was diagnosed with ADD/ADHD, I have started using my Outlook Calendar and a pocket calendar I keep in my purse to help me organize all of the things I have to do, birthdays I have to remember, appointments I need to keep, etc. In my online calendar, I set reminders, usually starting one week before something is 'due,' and then every day or two until the deadline or appointment. It's made a HUGE difference for me.
I still haven't figured out what to do about procrastination -- my Mom bought me a book called "The Procrastinator's Handbook," but I haven't found time to read it. (No kidding!! LOL) I still put things off as much as I can. It's only when I am absolutely forced to do something (or face some serious consequence that I don't want to) that I can actually accomplish whatever the 'thing' is that I've been putting off. I have found though, that many of the things I procrastinate about are either things I fear, things I think I will screw up, or things I don't understand and get overwhelmed about how to actually complete the task. But knowing that hasn't made it any easier...
I'm on 400mg of Wellbutrin plus 50mg of Pristiq for my depression, OCD, and ADD/ADHD. I can really tell when I'm having a day (or few days) of clarity because I do the laundry that's been piling up for the past few months. I clean off my counters. I start reading again. I feel like I finally have some FOCUS. Sadly, it still goes in spurts, so my meds aren't working 100%.
I hope you can find ways to cope with the challenges you are facing -- whether that is with medication or tools that will help you to cope.
