I just wanted to throw in my two cents....I live that over-the-top life as a side observer...boyfriend is very wealthy. I watch and listen. I give people 50% or more tips (so does the boyfriend) and donate generously. I also volunteer.

I do know the frustration you're feeling. When Haiti had it's earthquake, I remember asking BF why in the heck would he spend hours watching coverage but donate NOTHING?! It infuriated me.

One of our friends recently told me that I'm finally rubbing off on him...I shop at TJ Maxx and Marshalls. I could care less that I can shop anywhere....I almost want to ask some girls "really?!?! You really spent that much on a purse/jeans/shoes"?

I think the divide is the same as any other group of people...but I've been personally horrified by the extravagance. Some rich people also get really paranoid about people...especially if they're bipolar (both boyfriend and I are). I used to be really socially anxious...thinking others wouldn't like me. Now I worry what they're trying to get out of me...that's horrible, isn't it?
