I like DBT. I am actually going to go through the program again because when I did it the last time I was having crisis after crisis and I didn't manage to practice everything we were taught. I feel like a loser having to go through it again, but what can you do?
Don't forget the DBT Assumptions:
People are dong the best they can
people want to improve
people need to do better, try harder, and be more motivated to change
people may not have caused all of their own problems, but they have to solve them anyways
the lives of suicidal and depressed adolescents are painful as they are currently being lived
People must learn new behaviors in all important situations in their lives
There is no absolute truth
People and their families should take things in a well meaning way rather than assuming the worst
People cannot fail in DBT

"To dwell in the here and the now does not mean you never think about the past or responsibility, plan for the future. The idea is simply not to allow yourself to get lost in regrets about past or worries about the past or worries about the future. If you are firmly in the present moment, the past can be an object of inquiry, the object of your mindfulness by looking into the past, but you are still grounded in the present moment"
