Oh Yes!!! Echoes; I loved Maude--it was a run off of All in the Family-----
Bea Arthur was a great actress on Broadway---funny how so many here loved those shows, and still watch them today----
Kinda like The Honeymooners, or Abbot and Costello, sooo many of the old (wow-they're "old" now!!!) shows are such a comfort when I'm feeling lost.
Sounds like you people feel the same way about them that I do.
You know what?
I was playing on the Games forum; and someone there--(young, I guess) started a thread about naming great movies----
I put in On the Waterfront --you know--Brando!--"I coulda been a contender"--
and they had ne'er heard of it!
Wow--I bonded (she talks about it today-and has TCM) with my daughter when she was little watching all the old movies--Bette Davis, Jean Simmons, Joan Crawford, Gretta Garbo, (of course) Marlon Brando--one of the all time greats!!!--
It's so sad that younger people don't know of these movies--or even the old folk songs whose lyrics are just as descriptive of our society today as they were then.
