here's an example of when that is not true: I have a close friend who used to see the same T that I do. She (my friend) doesn't believe our T ever cared about her, and thinks she is a rotten, horrible T.
I, on the other hand, think my T is a pretty awesome one and that she does care about me. Of course I realize that it's in my best interest to believe my T cares about me, and I'm okay with that.
