Here's the deal about my hospitalization:
I checked into this facility, which is normally a 2-4 day stay....they kept me for 11! We spent that time fooling with meds, and I had group and individual therapy every day.
They turned me on to a group called NAMI, or National Alliance on Mental Illness. They have groups on Saturday for bipolar and depression, so I go to both.
They also turned me on to a counseling center that will cost $8.00 per week--that's hard to beat!
Going in the hospital was the best thing that has happened to me ever...I truly feel like I can manage my disease and get my life back for the first time in 10 years. What's funny is that I never believed I had "racing thoughts", until I had been on lithium for a few days. What a difference!
I go for my followup with my pdoc in the morning I can't wait!
Peace,
dave
