Allergies are so tough to work around. I learned early in life about them ... things no one else in the world needed to know like, paper plates are made of corn, and jello is pork and gelatin is beef.
I have anaphylactic reactions to several items. But most all of my allergic reactions begin with closing my airway. One thanksgiving a few years ago, my mom and sister had invited me over for dinner. I chose only the basic foods (without gravy etc) but still got into trouble over something that normally didn't bother me. After using my rescue breather and saying I couldn't figure out what caused it, my sister admitted she had added something I am allergic to...mother then added in that they thought if I didn't know it was in there, I wouldn't get sick.

Thanksgiving ended early.
Two other things I learned along the way, from the allergist. You either CRAVE or ABHOR the things you are allergic to...making it more difficult if you love something.
Having reactions is not a good solution. It isn't like ok your body reacts and then heals. There can be tragic results from continually forcing a severe reaction I think. It's like migraines, just because you take medication when you get one doesn't mean your body isn't suffering from the migraine anyway, and it's doing damage.

You really need to totally avoid an allergen or get treated for it.
