I normally seek a menial distraction...something to keep busy, that doesn't require any real thinking...I pay special attention to my breathing..I've noticed that my breathing impacts hugely on the level of my anxiety, also I make a concieous decision to relax...my neck, shoulders, etc.
Try and see if a "soothing" playlist could help, I have 3...Emo, Manic, Stressed...I'm still playing around with what goes where, but it helps.Singing along (even in my head) sometimes helps take the edge off.
I think I'm just rambling now...
