To me, meditation can mean two things:
Trying to get into some la-la land where nothing bothers you. (What, me worry?)
Trying to get to a state where you can be mindful over time of everything that is going on in your own mind, to examine it with a minimum of anxiety and condemnation, and see where the examination leads you. This includes examining the anxiety and condemnation.
